One of the biggest challenges I faced when starting out Affiliate Marketing, was finding the right products to promote. There are thousands of products out there, some good, some great, some bad,and some extremely bad, but how do you know which to choose, and which ones will benefit you the most. Here are some tips for you to keep in mind while looking.
Obviously, (but maybe sometimes not) you should always choose affiliate programs that will match the content on your site. Offering information or a review about that particular product, is not only content for your site, but can be the opportunity to send visitors to such a product you are an affiliate for.
Also remember (its important to be passionate about your niche,as promotion ideas will come easier. when you know and love a product it is easier for you to tell about it)
Look out for affiliate programs that offer great customer support, and also assistance in marketing. Many will offer the use of marketing tools like pre-written ads, in the form of sales letters, emails, text ads, banners etc. to save time for their affiliates and speed up the promotional process.
Try to find affiliate programs that pay two-tier commissions. This enables you to not only earn commissions on your own sales but also on the sales of people who you introduce to your affiliate program.
It’s good to join affiliate programs that offer a line of products too, so that you can earn commissions when any of your referrals come back and purchase any other services or products.
See if you can find an affiliate program that provides adequate tracking tools, so you can see whereabouts your earnings are coming from, you can then tweak your participation to maximize any future earnings.
Finally, try to avoid affiliate programs that don’t pay very much for the effort you put in, and look for the ones that have a decent pay rate, otherwise it will become difficult for you to earn enough (and we want the big bucks right?) 30% to 60% on direct sales is a good range to look for.
Oh, just one more tip…. If you can, or if it’s viable, purchase the product or service yourself. This is the best way to know that what you’re promoting isn’t rubbish, and is a great product. You can build a fantastic reputation this way, gain trust, get repeat customers, and possibly get some free ‘Word of Mouth’ advertising out there.
So just remember to always try to find products that really help people and solve their problems creatively. You’ll find that most of the time, it doesn’t really matter about the product’s price or how unique the product is, all you need to do is show your target customers how your product is a key to their success.
